Supportive Parents Conference FAQ

Q. Who is this conference for?
A. The Supportive Parents Conference is for anyone interested in learning about how they can be supports for LGBTQ2S+ youth in Alberta. Panels are intended to have the most value for parents, but even folks who aren’t parents are welcome. Additionally, one of our panels will be split up with one panel specifically for families and the other for service providers, so we do want this conference to be for everyone.

A. We will be providing a full lunch of soup, salad, and sandwiches (stay tuned to an exciting announcement about who we’re partnering with for our meal), as well as coffee, snacks, and water to start the day. Q. I’m interested in the conference, but I have young ones at home. Can I bring them?
A. Yes! After some feedback from past events, altView is proud to be providing onsite childcare. The space will be operated by an early learning and childcare specialist and will be adjacent to the Lecture Theatre, registration, and lunch area so you can feel comfortable during the conference.

Q. How much will this cost?
A. The Supportive Parents Conference is being offered at $20 per person, $25 if you’re registering for yourself plus a young one for our childcare space. Tickets are based on cost recovery for food and materials. If financial concerns are a barrier for participation, please reach out to Michael at info@altview.ca and he will happily make arrangements for you. Tickets are available electronically via our Square Store.

Q. This is all very interesting, how can I get involved?
A. We still have a couple open spots on our panels for youth, parents, and professional service providers who may be interested in having a platform for their experiences. As well, we are still looking for volunteers to help throughout the day. If you’re interested, please contact Michael at info@altview.ca
